Chore Packs
I have researched so many ways for my kids to remember their chores. I have tried just about as many! Some work for a little while(about a week), others plain just don't work!
This is a new one I am trying(I actually saw this on the show 19 Kids and counting). They each have their own packs and they are set up on the counter. There are a few that they are expected to do before school( like make their beds), the rest are for after school. Obviously D has a lot less then the other kids and his are a lot more simple(ie pick up Roxie's toys). J has a few more, he is older and yes we expect more responsibility from him. He is also getting to the age where I can give him a list and know that he is doing what he should be(not all of the time, but most).
I am also debating starting up Jurisdictions for saturday deep cleans. Each one will get to pick a chore that is more than their normal. Something like vacuuming, washing windows, dusting.... This is actually really hard for me also. I am somewhat of a control freak when it comes to cleaning.
I am trying to teach myself that I am actually training them and I need to let some things go. Windows may end up streaky or spots may be missed on the carpet, but they are proud because they did a "big person" chore!
I will post later on when I figure out how and what I will be doing for jurisdictions. I want it to be random so one kid can not keep picking the same chore every week.
